BATON ROUGE, La. – The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team suffered a 5-0 loss at #4 LSU Friday evening as the Chanticleers squared off against a national top-10 team for the second time in less than a week.
The Chanticleers fall to 7-4 overall with Friday's loss. The match was the first to be played inside the brand new LSU Beach Volleyball Stadium, which held 550 fans for the debut contest. The Tigers improved to 8-4 with the win.
Coastal's pairs remained the same as they had been when Coastal had won six of its previous seven matches.
LSU swept four of five courts to earn the win, starting with the fifth pairing of Hunter Domanski and Allison Coens defeating
Anett Nemeth and
Kalin Eske.
On the fourth court, Coastal's
Tanner Gauthier and
Kate Federico won the first set before Taryn Kloth and Kelli Agnew rebounded to take the second and third sets.
The match was clinched at No. 1 by Claire Coppola and Kristen Nuss, who defeated
Sydney Alvis and
Leah Hardeman.
The Chants are back in action on Saturday when they take on New Orleans (1 p.m. ET) and Tulane (3 p.m. ET) in the Green Wave Invitational.
