NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team split a pair of games against New Orleans and Tulane in Saturday's action at the Green Wave Invitational. The Chants began the day with a 3-2 win over UNO before falling 5-0 to Tulane, which was receiving votes in the latest AVCA coaches poll.
 
Following Saturday's split the Chants move to 8-5 overall this season. Coastal returns to Conway on Friday to host Tusculum in a doubleheader at the CCU Beach Volleyball Complex. The matches are scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
 
Match 1: Coastal 3 – UNO 2
New Orleans entered the day's action with a 6-2 record before Coastal defeated the Privateers, 3-2.
 
The Chants' fourth pairing of Kate Federico and Tanner Gauthier got the match started with a 24-22, 21-12 win. Anett Nemeth and Kalin Eske followed with another sweep at No. 5 to give Coastal a 2-0 lead.
 
New Orleans then came back to even the match, 2-2, with wins on the second and first courts.
 
The deciding point came at No. 3, where Lucy Campbell and Anaiah Boyer won in three sets over Victoria Corcoran and Ally Carr. The Chant duo fell in a tough first set, 21-23, before taking the next two, 21-17, 15-12.
 
Match 2: Tulane 5 – Coastal 0
Following matches against #10 South Carolina and #4 LSU earlier this week, Coastal faced a Tulane team that was second in receiving votes in the AVCA coaches poll.
 
The Green Wave swept on four of the five courts as the hosts won their second match of the day, and 11th this season.
 
Only the No. 5 match, featuring Haylie Beck and Ann-Katrine Hakansson, went to a third set. The Coastal pair rallied from a first-set loss to take the second set in extras, 23-21. Tulane's Gabriella Becerra and Kilani Daane won the third, however, to keep the sweep intact.
