Chants Wrap Up Third and Final Day At The Winthrop Invitational

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up day the third and final day of the Winthrop Invitational and saw nine athletes finish inside the top ten.
Men
Senior Kahlim Denmark finished in third place of the 100 meters, running 10.60 after running 10.50 in the prelims on Friday. Teammate Devin Pringle finished in fourth place at 10.75.
Matthew Evans took home a seventh-place on Saturday in the 3000-meter steeplechase. The freshman competing in his first event finished with a time of 10:03.03.
In the 4x100 meters, the CCU squad was able to finish in 41.41.
In the field, pole vaulters Dominic Ruettiger and Ryver Morrow finished eighth and ninth respectively. The freshman Ruettiger reached a distance on his sixth throw of the day of 4.45 meters. Morrow matched his personal best of 4.30 meters on his fourth attempt.
Top twenty finishes for the Chanticleers occurred in the 800 meters as junior Zackery White and sophomore Michael Pieterse finished with respective times of 2:00.17 and 2:00.46. Also in the 1500 meters, freshman Adlai Traver and sophomore Elijah Lawson finished with times of 4:34.44 and 4:38.48 respectively. Traver's time of 4:34.44 is now a personal-best for the freshman runner.
Women
Kelsia Moore took home a top 15 finish in the triple jump. The freshman picked up her best jump of the day in the first flight of the day for a distance of 11.14 meters (2.6).
Also picking up a top 15 finish was Sarah Lemon. In the 800 meters, the senior ran a time of 2:30.58.
Senior Kelsey Briggs finished out the top 20 finishes for the Chanticleers, as she was able to hurdle her way to a personal best time of 1:06.92 in the 400-meter hurdles.
Coastal will be back on the track next weekend split into two events that include Pepsi Relays at the University of Florida and Raleigh Relays at N.C. State.
