
Women's Golf to Defend Sun Belt Title in Florida

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Coastal Carolina women's golf team looks to defend its 2018 Sun Belt Championship when they open play for the 2019 Women's Golf Championship set for April 15-17. The event will be held at the LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla. The first round will be played at the LPGA Hills Course which is a par 72, 6,050-yard course.
The Chanticleers enter the event as the top seed. They are followed by Texas State, South Alabama, Troy and Georgia Southern rounding out the top five seeds.
Senior Marie Lunackova leads CCU into the event with a 74.27 stroke average. She is tied for second in the Sun Belt in scoring. Freshman Tiffany Arafi is next for CCU and seventh in the Sun Belt with a 74.76 average. Frantiska Lunackova gives the Chants three players among the top eight with her 75.04 average placing her in a tie for eighth.
Jenjira Jinangkul, another freshman, is 13th among conference scorers with a 75.12 stroke average and Stephanie Henning is 21st with a 75.96 average.
After finishing ninth in its first season in the Sun Belt in 2017, the Chanticleers rolled past the field in securing its first Sun Belt Championship by a whopping 34 strokes last year. Former CCU standout Malene Krolboll Hansen was last's years overall winner and was joined on the all-tournament team by Sena Ersoy and Marie Lunackova.
Monday's first round has the top-seeded Chants scheduled to tee off at 8:45 a.m. on the first hole. Live stats can be followed on Golfstat and the event can be watched live on ESPN+. Links can be found at goccusports.com.
