DELAND, Fla. - (ASUNSports.org) No. 4 Coastal Carolina stayed alive in the ASUN Beach Volleyball Championship with a 3-0 win over North Alabama, eliminating the Lions.
The Chanticleer No. 5 pair of Anett Nemeth and Kalin Eske put CCU up early with a 21-16, 21-16 win over Ana Gabriela Pacheco and Genesis Benitz. Coastal's No. 3 pair of Kate Federico and Tanner Gauthier followed that up with a 21-15, 21-19 win over Ava Carnley and Libby Jump.
CCU clinched the match in a three-set thriller on court one as No. 1 pair Sydney Alvis and Leah Hardeman defeated UNA's Sophia Brandstetter and Paula Klemperer, 19-21, 21-18, 18-16.
No. 4 Coastal Carolina (21-10) will play No. 3 FGCU later today at approximately 1:30 PM ET. North Alabama concludes its season with a 10-12 record.
UPDATE (12:20 PM): With the shortened matches due to weather concerns, the start time of the Coastal/FGCU match will now be 12:35 p.m. ET.
