CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team recorded another pair of wins in the final matches of the Conway Classic, defeating Austin Peay 5-0 and Morehead State 4-1 Saturday afternoon at the CCU Beach Volleyball Complex.
 
Coastal won all four of its duals during the Conway Classic to improve to 15-9 overall (4-0 ASUN). The Chants are back in action at the CCU Beach Volleyball Complex on Sunday hosting Jacksonville State in a doubleheader starting at 9 a.m. Following the second match Coastal will recognize the members of its senior class.
 
Match 1: Coastal 5 – Austin Peay 0
Coastal recorded its third consecutive sweep – and second straight against Austin Peay – in the morning with a 5-0 win over Austin Peay.
 
Kalin Eske and Anett Nemeth led off the day with a 21-12, 21-16 win at No. 5. Shelby Ladewig and Aleksandra Djuric followed at No. 4 with a 21-12, 21-14 victory.
 
Lucy Campbell and Anaiah Boyer provided the match-clincher at No. 2, winning 21-10, 21-9.
 
Leah Hardeman/Sydney Alvis added a 21-17, 21-14 win at No. 1, and Tanner Gauthier/Kate Federico completed the sweep with a three-set win at No. 3.
 
Match 2: Coastal 4 – Morehead State 1
Coastal lost its only point of the weekend in the final match of the Conway Classic.
 
Keeping the same lineup from the first match, Coastal's 5's and 4's once again won back-to-back points in straight sets to give the Chants a 2-0 lead.
 
Morehead then cut Coastal's lead in half with a win at No. 2, but the Chants' 3's responded with a three-set victory to seal the match win.
 
Coastal's final point came from its 1's in a three-set match.
