STATESBORO, Ga. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team won its final road match of the regular season Sunday afternoon, defeating Georgia Southern 4-2 at the Wallis Tennis Courts.
 
Coastal improves 14-7 (4-2 SBC) heading into its regular season finale versus Appalachian State on April 13. The Chants and Mountaineers will open at noon at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
 
Coastal trailed 2-0 in the match but rallied in singles to defeat the Eagles.
 
The Chants opened the day with a 6-2 No. 3 doubles win by Daiki Tanabe and Pyry Hyrkkonen. GS responded with 6-2 and 7-5 wins on the second and first doubles courts, respectively, to take the opening point.
 
Stefano Di Aloy stretched the Eagles' lead to 2-0 with a No. 2 singles wins.
 
Coastal's comeback began on the sixth singles court where Tanabe picked up his second win of the day in three sets. Gonzalo Achondo followed with a 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 5 to even the match at 2-2.
 
Coastal took its first lead of the day with a 7-6, 6-4 win by Hyrkkonen at No. 4, and Joel Popov clinched the match for the Chants following a 7-6, 7-5 victory at No. 3.
