Coastal to Host Clemson on Tuesday Night at 6 p.m. ET

Conway, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will welcome the Clemson Tigers to Springs Brooks Stadium for an in-state, non-conference showdown on Tuesday night, May 14. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. ET.

Charting the Chants
  • Coastal Carolina enters the final week of regular season play at 28-21-1 overall and have won two of its last three games.
  • The Chants are 17-9 at home at Springs Brooks Stadium this season, including going 12-2 at home in non-conference action.
 
Talking Tigers
  • Clemson enters play this week at 30-22 overall and just 13-14 in ACC play.
  •  The Tigers, who are just 9-11 on the road this season, are 4-6 over their last 10 games, including going just 2-5 over their last seven road games.
 
All-Time Series
  • Clemson leads the all-time overall series over Coastal at 10-46 and has won seven out of the last 10 meetings between the two teams.
  • In the first meeting between the two teams this season, Clemson scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning and never trailed in the 8-5 home win over CCU on March 13.
 
Chants Chatter
  • In the first meeting between the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and the Clemson Tigers, Clemson scored six runs in the first inning to defeat the Chanticleers 8-5 in a battle of top-25 teams at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on March 13.
  • Tuesday night's contest marks the second-straight season in which the Chanticleers have hosted the Clemson Tigers at Springs Brooks Stadium. Last year, CCU defeated No. 10 Clemson 9-5 at home on March 20.
  • This season, the Chanticleers are 0-3 versus teams from the state of South Carolina. Coastal is 0-2 versus the College of Charleston with an 8-5 road loss on Feb. 27 and a 13-6 home defeat to the Cougars on April 16 and suffered an 8-5 road loss at then-No. 18 Clemson back on March 13.
  • Counting Tuesday night's home contest versus the Clemson Tigers, the Chanticleers have just four regular-season games remaining this season. CCU host Clemson on Tuesday, May 14, and then welcomes Sun Belt East Divisional foe Appalachian State for a three-game conference series on May 16-18.
  • It has been five years since Coastal Carolina and Clemson have met where neither team was ranked in the top-25 nationally. The last time neither team was ranked nationally when the two teams faced off was back on March 17, 2015, when Coastal defeated Clemson 9-5 at Springs Brooks Stadium.
  • The magic number for CCU this season is six - as in six runs. Coastal is 26-6 overall on the year when scoring six runs or more in a game and just 2-15-1 when scoring less than six runs. When holding its opponents to six runs or less, the Chants are 18-4-1, yet are only 10-17 when allowing six runs or more.
  • Tuesday night's contest versus Clemson will be the seventh game for the Chants versus teams from the ACC this season. Coastal is 3-3 versus the ACC this year with two wins over Wake Forest at home on March 5 & 6 and a victory at then-No. 2 NC State on the road in Raleigh, N.C. on April 10. CCU's losses to the ACC have come at home to then-No. 21 NC State in extra innings on Feb. 24, at then-No. 18 Clemson on March 13 and at then-No. 15 North Carolina on April 23.
  • Coastal has had eight different pitchers make a start on the mound for them this season in Austin Kitchen (11), Anthony Veneziano (10), Zach McCambley (9), Garrett McDaniels (7), Nick Parker (6), Scott Kobos (3), Matt Eardensohn (3) and Bobby Holmes (1).
  • The Coastal pitching staff is averaging 8.9 strikeouts per nine innings this season with nine different Chants pitching over 20 innings on the mound on the season.
  • The Chants rank in the top-25 nationally in 10 different statistical categories. Coastal ranks 12th in slugging percentage (.483), 15th in on-base percentage (.406), 16th in scoring (7.7), 17th in runs (384), 18th in sacrifice flies (30), 21st in home runs (63), 21st in batting average (.299), 21st in hits (532), 22nd in hit-by-pitch (78) and 25th in triples (18).
 
 On Deck
  • Coastal will wrap up its regular-season slate with a three-game series at home versus Appalachian State on May 16-18. Friday night, May 17, will be Senior Night for the Chanticleers while Saturday, May 18, is Heroes Day.
