Women’s Lacrosse Tabs 2020 Team Captains

Coastal Carolina women’s lacrosse will open up the 2020 slate on Feb. 8
CONWAY, S.C. – Fifth-year head coach Kristen Selvage and the Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team is excited to announce the program's 2020 team captains in Avery Drouin, Lyla Robinson, and Megan Kilpatrick.
"This is a tremendous group of captains. Each one of them brings something unique to the table. Each of them drives the team with their passion for the game and the dedication to the sport. They are all a great model of a Coastal student-athlete both in the classroom and on the field," stated coach Selvage. "Lyla has a knack for playing whatever role we give her and doing whatever is best for the team. Megan is the best example of doing whatever is asked of you and fighting your way through until you succeed. Avery is a persistent and focused young woman, always striving to get it right. All three of them are level-headed and lead with Moxy."
Robinson and Kilpatrick were both captains on last year's squad that went 12-6 overall and posted a pair of five-game winning streaks along the way.
Named to the 2020 ASUN Women's Lacrosse Preseason watch list, Drouin appeared in 18 games, making five starts in the midfield last season in her first year as a Chant. The rising junior found the back of the net four times, including the game-winner against Kennesaw State, and assisted on four other CCU goals for eight points last year. She also won 12 draw controls while gathering 10 ground balls and causing two turnovers.
Now a two-time captain, Robinson has played in 45 games over her three years at CCU, including playing in all 18 contests last season, making 10 starts for the Chants. She has totaled 31 goals and 30 assists for a combined 61 points thus far in her CCU career and heads into her senior season with a .821 shots on goal percentage and three game-winning scores.
Voted a team captain for the second-straight season, Kilpatrick was named to the 2020 ASUN preseason all-conference team heading into her final campaign this year. The two-time first-team all-conference selection and 2019 ASUN All-Tournament team pick has started in every single game over the last two seasons for the Chants in the midfield. The redshirt-senior has played in 53 games over her CCU career, totaling three points on two goals and one assist. She has also scooped up 60 ground balls, caused 41 turnovers, and won a total of 33 draws, including 28 draw controls last season which was second on the team overall.
The Chanticleers will open up their 2020 slate with a five-game road trip beginning with the season opener at Old Dominion on Feb. 8 at 1 p.m. ET.
