CONWAY, S.C. - Starting on Friday, the Coastal Carolina softball team will close out the tournament season as they host the three-day Courtyard Marriott Barefoot Landing Invitational at St. John Stadium.
COASTAL CAROLINA
CCU looks to improve on their eight-game winning streak that has included five shutouts, while the offense has scored 65 runs with a batting average of .360 (71-for-197), nine home runs, 13 doubles, and 59 RBI.
The Chants enter the weekend with a 9-3 record after picking up four wins last weekend during the Ripley's Chanticleer Showdown against Seton Hall (2), Iona, and UMBC.
On Tuesday, freshman Raelee Brabham was awarded the Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week as she went 2-0 last week with shutout wins against Seton Hall and UMBC. The native of Moncks Corner, S.C., pitched 14 innings, struck out 13 in the two wins.
In her last four appearances, Brabham has dealt 20.2 innings of scoreless softball with a record of 4-0.
So far, in 2020, Braham has logged 30.1 innings and leads the Sun Belt Conference with five wins and a .46 earned run average. The righty's earned run average is also good for the ninth-best mark in the NCAA.
Junior transfer Makiya Thomas has played in nine games this season while hitting safely in has safely in eight. On the year, Thomas is leading the conference with a .571 batting average, has nine RBI with a double, a triple, four walks, and an on-base percentage of .625. Last weekend in Chant's four wins, Thomas batted .750 (9-of-12), a double, triple, and six RBI.
After starting the season with the record of 1-3 and a batting average of .195 (8-for-41) with runners in scoring position, CCU has now gone 8-0 with a .337 average (31-of- 92) with runners in scoring position.

OHIO
The Ohio Bobcats enter the weekend with a 5-10 record after starting the season with seven-straight losses.
During the College of Charleston Tournament last weekend, the Bobcats went 3-2 with wins over Army, N.C. Central, and Charleston Southern.
In Charleston, Allie Englant batted .470 (8-for-17) with a run batted in the five games.
Offensively, Englant leads the team in 2020 with a .469 batting average, knocked in 12 runs, and scored 15 runs.
Baylie Thornhill is the Bobcats ace so far on the season as she has appeared in nine games, pitched 36 innings, added a save, and thrown two complete games while striking out 25 batters.
MONMOUTH
The Monmouth Hawks enter the weekend with a 5-5 record after starting the season with seven-straight losses.
The Hawks earned three wins in four games last weekend at the Georgia Southern Round Robin. Monmouth would knock off Maryland, Furman, and Evansville by allowing just a run in each of the three wins.
Alyssa Irons earned all three wins as she was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Pitcher of the Week announced by the league on Tuesday.
The junior pitcher tossed three complete games, giving up just two earned runs in 21 innings.
Kayla Rosado leads the Hawks hitters on the season with a .457 batting average, has hit two homers, and leads the team with 11 RBI.
Last weekend in the three wins, Rosado batted .466 (7-for-15), scored two runs, and knocked in six runners.
UMES
The UMES Eastern Shore Hawks enter the weekend with a record of 1-8 on the season, with their lone win coming this past weekend versus the University of Buffalo Bulls at the Spartan Classic.
Nasya Goodman pitched the Hawks to their first win over the season over the Bulls. Goodman went the distance as she faced 36 batters on the way to earning the complete-game victory. Goodman allowed 10 hits, and four runs on seven strikeouts.
Goodman is leading the pitching staff this season with six appearances, and 29.1 innings with 23 strikeouts.
USC UPSTATE
The USC Upstate Spartans enter the weekend with a record of 12-2 this season and sits in first-place of the Big South Conference.
The Spartans won each of their four games last weekend at the Wings ETC Classic, including a Power 5 win over the Virginia Cavaliers.
Tiffany Domingue leads the Spartan batters on the season with a .409 batting average, two home runs, and 13 RBI.
Pitchers Erin Hill and Celina Sullivan enter this weekend's tournament with a 4-1 record, but Hill leads the staff with 10 appearances made, 41 innings pitched, two shutouts, and 36 strikeouts.
The Courtyard Marriott Barefoot Landing Invitational will get kicked off on Friday, Feb. 28 at 10:30 a.m. with UMES versus Monmouth. The Chanticleers get their portion of the tournament started at 3:00 on Friday versus Monmouth.
