Softball Adds Transfer for 2020-21

Rosado comes to Coastal Carolina from Monmouth

CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina head softball coach Kelley Green has announced the addition of graduate transfer Kayla Rosado (Oradell, N.J./Monmouth University) to the program for the upcoming 2020-21 academic year.

Rosado joins the 2020 signing class of Payton Ebersole (Dillsburg, Pa.), Madison Hudson (Lithia, Fla.), Jordan Thompson (Ashburn, Va.), and Riley Zana (Elyria, Ohio) who all signed their National Letter of Intent in November 2019.

"Kayla not only brings a huge offensive threat to our lineup, but her conference championship and NCAA postseason experiences will be beneficial to our program," stated coach Green.

A two-time All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) selection at Monmouth, in which she earned first-team honors in 2019 and second-team accolades in 2018, Rosado played in 176 games, starting 172 over her four-year career as a Hawk.

She comes to Coastal Carolina having posted a career batting average of .322 with 12 home runs, two triples, 29 doubles, 100 RBIs, and 53 runs scored. She has a career slugging percentage of .452, career on-base percentage of .396, and walked 61 times compared to just 54 strikeouts in 531 career at-bats.

A 2017 All-MAAC Rookie Team selection, Rosado led the Hawks in hitting in each of the last two seasons, as she batted .438 in 20 games in 2020 after hitting a team-best .383 in 54 games as a junior in 2019.

While at Monmouth, Rosado was a key part of two MAAC regular-season and tournament championship teams and helped guide the Hawks to two NCAA Championship Regional appearances, including the program's first-ever appearance in 2018.

Prior to her time at Monmouth, Rosado was a third-team all-state selection as a junior, while also garnering first-team all-county and all-league honors that year at River Dell High School. She also earned all-league first-team honors as a sophomore and honorable mention recognition her freshman season, while also picking up third-team all-county accolades in her sophomore season. A strong two-way player in high school, Rosado hit .534 at the plate with three home runs, three triples, 10 doubles, and 38 RBIs her junior season, while not committing a single error at first base. Over her first three high school seasons, she hit .460 with 63 RBIs.
