BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Coastal Carolina women's golf team shot a 14-over 302 in Tuesday's final round of the Olde Stone Intercollegiate, finishing third with a final score of 37-over par 901.
It's the second time in four events the Chants have finished third in an event this fall, also finishing third at the Evie Odom Invitational. CCU won the Buccaneer Classic last week and now has top-four finishes in all four fall events.
Tiffany Arafi was once again the talk of the Chants, winning the individual championship with a three-under 213 (68-71-74). Arafi entered the day with a solid four-shot lead, but saw that narrow down to a couple of strokes before adding two birdies on the final five holes to push her lead back out to a four-stroke advantage. It is the second consecutive event Arafi has won this season.
Sophia Carlsen continued her solid fall season with a 10-over 226 (74-75-77). She finished the event tied for 14th.
Sara Sarrion finished 25th after carding a 13-over 229 (78-73-79).
Caitlin Evans-Brand jumped up 18 spots after scoring a team-best one-over 73 in today's round. She finished the three-day scoring at 18-over 234 (79, 82, 73).
Jenjira Jinangkul finished tied for 58
th after scoring a 23-over 239 (80-81-78).
The tough scoring continued in today's action as none of the 14 teams completed play under par. Co-host Louisville did have the day's top round, finishing at one-over in winning the event with a three-round total of 28-over 892. North Texas finished just two shots in front of CCU (+35, 899), while Notre Dame (+41, 905) finished fourth.
Oklahoma and Wisconsin finished tied for fifth after both teams concluded play with a 44-over 908. Charlotte (+51, 915), Augusta (+57, 921), Memphis (+61, 925) and co-host Western Kentucky (+62, 926) finished 10th.
Rounding out the field was Minnesota (+68, 932), Morehead State (+69, 933), Middle Tennessee State (+71, 935), and Marshall (+84, 948).
The Olde Stone Intercollegiate is the final match of the fall season for the Chants. CCU will jump back into spring action at the San Jose Intercollegiate scheduled for Feb. 14-15 at the San Jose Country Club in Jacksonville, Fla.
