ADJUSTING ON THE FLY
  • Initially, the Feb.26-28 Chanticleer Showdown tournament was scheduled to be played between Coastal Carolina, Marshall, Lipscomb, and Charleston Southern, but due to CoVid-19 protocol, Charleston Southern and Marshall were forced to drop out of the weekend.
  • The revised plan will now feature a four-game series between the Chanticleers and the Bisons.
  • Friday will kick off the weekend with a 3 p.m. ET first pitch. On Saturday, the two teams will play a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. ET, and Sunday will wrap up the tournament with one game at 11 a.m. ET.
HOME SWEET HOME
  • The Chanticleers return to Conway this weekend after playing their first two road games on Tuesday after not seeing the road since May of 2019. Over the past two years, CCU has been 38-16 in the friendly confines of St. John Stadium.
HUNGRY CHANTS
  • Coastal is looking to rebound after dropping the past three games against ECU and two versus No. 18 South Carolina.
  • So far in 2021, two of the newest Chants have gotten playing time. Freshman Jordan Thompson came off the bench in Wednesday's game two and collected the first hit of her collegiate career. Fellow freshman Riley Zana has seen action over the last three of five games. Zana had gotten her first career start at third base versus Saint Francis on February 20, came out of the bullpen against East Carolina on February 21, and came off the bench for pinch-hitting duty versus South Carolina on February 24.
ROLLING ROSADO
  • Through her first six games in her Chanticleer career, Kayla Rosado has batted .500 (7-for-14) with a double and a home run.
  • Rosado has reached base in each of the first six games in 2021 and leads the team with a .611 OBP
  • The CCU first baseman has hit safely in five of the first six games of the season.
  • On Wednesday, Rosado would double for the first time this season in game one off Leah Powell and then single off Rachael Vaughan in the first inning of game two.
  • The Oradell, N.J., native is tied for third in the conference with a .500 batting average and is third with a .611 on-base percentage.
SCOUTING THE BISONS
  • The Bisons come into the 4-game weekend with a 4-3 overall record as they split a doubleheader versus Northern Iowa on Wednesday.
  • Lipscomb is third in the Atlantic Sun Conference behind North Alabama (4-2) and Liberty (6-4).
  • Last weekend, Lipscomb competed at the Jaguar Classic, where they faced the host South Alabama, Butler, and Murray State. The Bisons lost both of their games on Friday, but three straight to close out the weekend. Against fellow Sun Belt foe South Alabama, Lipscomb had a 1-1 record on the weekend.
  • Offensively, Lipscomb has four players batting over .300. Kamrie Rich has batted .435 with a double, a triple, and a home run with eight RBI through seven games.
  • The five-person pitching staff features four players with a 2.21 ERA or lower. Breana Burke leads the staff in ERA (1.69), wins (2), complete games (3), and innings pitched (20.2).
ALL-TIME SERIES
  • Lipscomb holds the advantage in the all-time series record 3-0.
  • The last time the schools have faced was on March 20, 2011, during the Chanticleer Challenge. The Bisons took that game, 6-4.
