SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse attacker
Samantha Courtemanche was named the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her performance against the Mercer Bears on April 16. The weekly honor is the third for the graduate student and the seventh for the Chanticleers on the season.
The Chants improved to 8-6 on the year and to 2-1 in SoCon action. With the win, CCU improved to 6-0 all-time against Mercer.
Courtemanche tallied six points on four goals and two assists in the 11-10 win over the Bears. The Elliot City, Md., native scored four goals with the final two scores coming in the final minute of play. After tying the match up at 10-10 with 52 seconds left to play, the fifth-year Chant netted the game-winner by way of a behind-the-head goal with 11 seconds remaining on the game clock.
Courtemanche sits in the program's top-10 in goals, assists, and points for her career.
Coastal Carolina returns to action on Friday, April 23 as the Chants will travel to former ASUN foe Jacksonville at D.B. Milne Field in Jacksonville, Fla. The opening draw is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET.
