JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - On day one of the UNF Invitational, the Coastal Carolina track and field team tallied seven top-15 performances and 11 personal bests.
MEN
Three Chanticleer long jumpers highlighted the day as they produced three top-15 performances.
Senior David Ejumeta placed fourth as he jumped the best result of the trio as it resulted in 7.55 meters. Sophomore Dallas Wise followed a spot behind in fifth place with a mark of 7.52 meters. Two-sport athlete Alex Spillum finished in 15th with a mark of 7.15 meters.
Combined event athlete Isaac Murdock rounded out the Chanticleer long jumpers as he produced a personal best of 6.71 meters.
Wise also earned a fifth-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 2.05 meters.
In the 200 meters, Ty Floyd and DeVonte Harris earned personal best at the end of the day.
The Greenwood, S.C. native Floyd chopped off almost two-tenths of a second off his previous personal best to run 21.47 (-0.1). Harris, the Indian Hill, S.C., native, ran 21.48 (-0.1), nine-hundredths of a second faster than his previous best.
Long-distance runner Jerardo Perez added a new personal best in the 1500 meters as he ran 4:11.02.
WOMEN
Four Chanticleers put together impressive times in the 200 meters in which resulted in three personal records.
Sophomore Jermaisha Arnold led the Chanticleers in the 200-meter race with a top 15 performance as she ran a time of 24.12 (0.5).
Rounding out the CCU team with personal record performances was; Kayla Sweeney who finished 15th (24.12 (0.2)), Keniah Wallace (24.81 (0.2)), and Erin Palmer (25.29 (0.8)).
In the 400-meter hurdles, Shani'a Bellamy and Lauren Gordon put together personal-record performances on the day.
Bellamy finished the hurdle race in eighth place with a time of 59.40, five seconds better than her previous best by 3.50. Teammate Lauren Gordon also finished the 400-hurdles with a personal best time of 1:02.37, 2:04 better than her former best time.
Mid-distance runner Ashley Rulison produced a personal record in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:47.81.
A pair of Chanticleers earned personal bests in the Thursday throwing events.
Combined athlete Nikki Boon produced a personal record in the shot put with a mark of 12.32 meters.
India Wright earned a personal record in the discus with a mark of 35.97 meters.
Coastal Carolina will wrap up the two-day UNF Invitational on Friday as the action resumes at 10 a.m. ET.
