JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - On Friday, sophomore Melissa Jefferson and freshman Aaron Keeler led the Chants' track and field team on the final day of the UNF Invitational with a pair of third-place finishes at Hodges Stadium.

Women
Jefferson advanced to the finals with the seventh-best time (11.52 (0.9)) of the preliminaries, but in the final round, the Georgetown, S.C., native finished two-hundredths of a second off her school-record time at 11.24 (1.9), good for third place.

Fellow 100-meter sprinter Keniah Wallace finished in 15th place as she earned a personal -best time of 11.91(-0.6).

Jefferson and Wallace teamed up with freshmen Kayla Sweeney and Jermaisha Arnold in the 4x100-relay race as the foursome picked up third place with a team season-best time of 44.84.

In the 4x400, Shani'a Bellamy, Lauren Gordon, Tariney Pepper, and Arnold took eight-place with a time of 3:42.24.

Three other personal records fell on Friday afternoon for the women as Kacey Lombard threw 40.45 meters in the hammer throw. Ashley Rulison ran 2:23.59 in the 800 meters, and Amelia Canetto ran 58.26 in the 400 meters.

Men
Keeler put together a third-place performance in the javelin with a personal-best throw of 55.79 meters, good for third place on Friday afternoon at Hodges stadium.

In the 4x400 meters, Ty Floyd, DeVonte Harris, Brendan Kovar, and Jeremiah Talbert teamed up to finish in fourth as they ran a team season-best, 3:10.80.

The junior Talbert also competed in his first 100-meter event of the season but came up short of reaching the finals. Notably, the Simpsonville, S.C., native ran a team season-best time of 10.75 (1.3).

Braydon Bennett finished inside the top-15 of the 110-meter hurdles as the freshman finished 12th overall with a time of 14.44 (0.8).

Combined event athlete Isaac Murdock set a personal-record time of 16.22 (-0.8) in the 110-meter hurdles.

Graduate student Andrew Southard turned in a season-best time of 1:55.82 at Hodges Stadium in the 800 meters.
The Chanticleers will return to the outdoor oval on May 13-15 at the 2021 Sun Belt Track and Field Championships in Mobile, Ala.
