WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team continued play at the 2022 ITA Carolina Regional Championships in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Friday, as the Chanticleers have five student-athletes remaining in singles play across the A1, A2, and B1 Singles Draws.
 
CCU's Megan Hopton and Jesse Hollins both moved on to the Round of 16 in the B1 Singles Draw, as Hopton won 6-1, 6-3 over Emma van Poppel of Charlotte, while Hollins drew a bye in the first round.
 
In the A2 Singles Draw, Anna Babayan suffered a 6-0, 6-2 loss to No. 4-seeded Casie Wooten of Wake Forest in the Round of 32, but went on to advance to the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket with a win due to an injury and then a bye.
 
Victoire De Samucewicz fell in the Round of 32 A1 Singles Draw to No. 2-seeded Ayana Akli of South Carolina, 1-6, 6-2, 6-1, while in the B2 Singles Draw, newcomer Kata Foldeak was handed a 6-3, 6-0 loss to Emely Kahrs of Wofford in the first round to fall into the consolation bracket starting on Saturday.
 
In doubles action, the team of De Samucewicz and Foldeak advanced to the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket for the A1 Doubles Draw before falling to Noa Boyd and Amilia Jusufbegovic 8-3.
 
In the consolation bracket of the A2 Doubles Draw, the team of Hollins and Lilie Steryous fell 8-2 to No. 6-seeded Sara Snyder and Jess Dawson of Furman in the first round, while the duo of Tatum Burger and Babayan would advance to the consolation quarterfinals by way of an 8-5 win over Sara McClure and Lindsay Zink of North Carolina and a bye before falling to Arina Babkova and Raegan Mitchell of UNCG 8-5.
 
The Chanticleers will continue singles action at the ITA Carolina Regional Championships tomorrow.
