Chants Dominate Doubles Play at Lynn Stevens Memorial Invite on Saturday

Chanticleers won six doubles bouts on the day

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team wrapped up the two-day Lynn Stevens Memorial Invitational on Saturday, dominating in doubles play en route to registering 11 wins overall for the day.
 
With their 14 total wins on Friday and 11 wins on Saturday, the Chanticleers tallied 25 wins overall for the home tournament.
 
Coastal opened the second day of competition with a clean sweep of Queens University of Charlotte in doubles play, as the pair of Lilie Steryous and Jesse Hollins shut out the Queens duo on court No. 1 for a 6-0 win, while the team of Kata Foldeak and Victoire De Samucewicz held on for a 7-5 win on court No. 2.
 
On court No. 3, the tandem of Tatum Burger and Anna Babayan won 6-3, while the team of Megan Hopton and Isabella Weatherhead continued their winning ways by winning 6-2 on court No. 4.
 
The Chanticleers continued their solid weekend of doubles action with a 2-1 win over Charleston Southern in their second doubles match of the day.
 
The team of De Samucewicz and Foldeak again showed their resiliency and held on to win another tight match, winning the tiebreaker and ultimately the match at 7-6 (3), while the pair of Burger and Babayan won their second match of the day by the score of 6-3 on court No. 3.
 
The Chants wrapped up their second tournament of the fall season by scoring five wins over eight matches in singles play versus the Appalachian State Mountaineers.
 
De Samucewicz held on for a 7-5, 6-4 win in singles play on court No. 2, as the veteran Chant was the lone winner for the home team over the top four flights.
 
However, the Chants dominated in matches 5-8, as Babayan won 6-2, 6-1 on court No. 5, Hollins cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win on court No. 6, Hopton dominated for a 6-1, 6-0 win on court No. 7, and Weatherhead won 6-2, 6-2 on court No. 8.
 
The Chanticleers will not have long to rest, as CCU will quickly turn around to compete at the ITA Carolina Regionals on Oct. 13-17 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
