CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team kicks off the second weekend of play by hosting the Battle at the Beach, Feb. 18-20. The Chanticleers welcome Fordham, Marshall, and South Carolina to St. John Stadium over the weekend.

Last Time Out
The Chanticleers held the Kickin' Chicken Classic Feb. 11-13, hosting East Carolina, Georgetown, and Purdue. CCU finished the opening weekend of the play 3-2, falling only to the Boilermakers.
Throughout the tournament, the Chants hit 15 home runs led by
Abbey Montoya's four home runs – including a walk-off grand slam to propel Coastal over Georgetown 13-9 on Saturday. Coastal scored 41 total runs in five games.
Notably, in her first collegiate at-bat, true freshman
Keirstin Roose blasted a home run over the right-field wall on a 2-2 count against Purdue on Friday, Feb. 11.
Opponents Last Time Out
Fordham
The Rams finished the opening weekend of play in the Grand Canyon Kick-Off Classic 2-3, defeating Weber State 4-1 and Northern Colorado 3-2 and falling to Weber State 5-1, Grand Canyon 10-2 (5 innings), and Kansas 6-2.
After finishing the 2021 season 37-10 overall and 7-10 in Atlantic 10 (A10) play, Fordham was picked to finish second in the A10's preseason coaches' poll.
Marshall
The Herd started the 2022 season at the Buzz Classic hosted by Georgia Tech, dropping just one contest to Villanova, 9-1 in five innings. Marshall defeated Saint Joseph's University twice, and Villanova in the rematch.
Marshall finished the 2021 season 20-13 overall and 8-8 in Conference USA (C-USA) play. The Herd was picked to finish fifth in the C-USA preseason coaches' poll.
South Carolina
South Carolina hosted the Gamecock Invitational over the opening weekend of play, going 3-1 dropping their final contest of the weekend to North Carolina on Sunday, 8-3. The Gamecocks suffered their second loss of the season on Wednesday, falling to Charlotte 6-1.
The Gaemecocks finished the 2021 season 26-26 overall and 4-20 in SEC play. The team was picked to finish 13th in the 2022 SEC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
