CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team faced the No. 38 Charlotte 49ers on Friday afternoon in a non-conference battle.  It was a tough day on the court, as the Niners claimed a 6-1 victory.
 
The loss dropped CCU to 3-4 on the season, while with the win Charlotte improved to 8-2.
 
The Chants notched a victory in doubles play, as Victoire De Samucewicz and Jesse Hollins held off Rocio Safont and Lucie Petruzelova 6-4 at the second flight.
 
In singles play, the Chants played some very close matches.  In the top match on the slate, De Samucewicz rallied from one set down to beat No. 87 Margaux Maquet 1-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-3).
 
On court two, Lucia Quiterio picked up a 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) win over Mathilde Tranberg.  In the third flight, Paola Landin Lopez dropped a 6-3, 6-4 contest to Rocio Safont.  On the fourth court, Anna Babayan fell in three sets to Lucie Petruzelova 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6).
 
Next up, the Chanticleers will be at home against Campbell on Wednesday, March 2, at 2 p.m. ET.
