CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team (12-17, 1-5 SBC) will return to the road for just the third time this season, as the Chanticleers will make the trip across the state to face a familiar foe in Winthrop (11-19, 5-4 Big South), on Tuesday, March 29, for a midweek non-conference doubleheader at Terry Field.
Game one is set for 2 p.m. ET in Rock Hill, S.C. with game two following 30 minutes later.

CHANTS LAST TIME OUT
Coastal continued its Sun Belt Conference play, as the Chanticleers played host to Texas State on March 25-27 at St. John Stadium. CCU dropped all three contests against TXST in the weekend series.
CCU dropped Friday's contest 2-8, before falling in six innings 0-9 on Saturday afternoon. The Chants fought back on Sunday but ultimately would drop the contest by a score of 7-9.
Iyanla De Jesus led the offensive efforts to the Chants at the plate as the junior finished the weekend with a .625 batting average, a .600 on-base percentage, as well as a 1.250 slugging percentage. The Mill Creek, Washington native went a perfect 3-for-3 on Friday afternoon, coming up just a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.
EAGLES LAST TIME OUT
Winthrop dropped two of the three-game series on the road against Hampton on March 25-2.
The Eagles took game one of the weekend 3-1, before falling on Saturday 3-5 and 1-11 in 5 innings on Sunday afternoon.
ALL-TIME SERIES
In a series that dates back to 1981, Coastal holds a 60-45 advantage over Winthrop. The Eagles claimed the first-ever meeting 6-1 on March 27, 1981. Most recently Coastal has taken the last two meetings by a combined score of 9-4.
HOME RUN CLINIC
The Chanticleers have hit 43 total home runs while opponents have hit just 28. So far this season, 10 different Coastal players have hit home runs.
Keirstin Roose leads the offensive efforts for Coastal as the true freshman has recorded eight home runs. De Jesus sits second in the home run race as she has tallied seven homers this season.
Riley Zana has recorded six, while
Abbey Montoya and
Payton Ebersole have each recorded five.
