CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team will travel to Georgia State on Wednesday, March 9, to compete at the Georgia State Day of Duals, a one-day dual hosted by Georgia State University. The Chants will dual against Georgia State, Tusculum, and Mercer throughout the day.
The Chants enter the dual at 6-2 overall after participating in the North Florida Invitational last weekend in Jacksonville, Fla. CCU defeated Nebraska and Mercer but also suffered setbacks to (RV) North Florida and No. 17 FIU to finish the weekend at 2-2 overall.
Coastal has been led by the team of
Ellie Hanford and
Natalie Honzovicova at the No. 3 flight, as first-year team is 8-0 overall on the season.
The pair of Irena Drobjnak and
Martine Kragholm are 5-3 overall at the No. 1 flight so far this season, while the duo of
Madie Lichty and
Sarah Riedell are also 5-3 overall at the No. 2 flight.
Second on the team in wins thus far this season is the team of
Madison Allred and
Raychel Ehlers, as the duo is 6-2 overall at the No. 5 flight.
Host Georgia State will enter the dual at 5-4 overall. Last time out, the Panthers were at the Horned Frog Challenge where they picked up wins over No. 16 Stetson, South Carolina, and Central Arkansas before falling to No. 3 Florida State and the host TCU.
Tusculum will enter at 10-3 overall after competing at the SHC Badger Classic where they went 4-2 overall, picking up victories against Mobile William Carey and Berry which were both sweeps. Their two losses came against New Orleans and the host Spring Hill.
The Mercer Bears come in at 1-7 overall after also competing at the North Florida Invitational last weekend where they picked up a victory over Jacksonville University by a score of 4-1.
