Softball Returns Home for Weekend Series Against ULM

CONWAY, S.C. – After a six-game road stint, the Coastal Carolina softball team returns home to Conway and hosts ULM on April 14-16 at St. John Stadium. Notably, the schedule has been adjusted for Easter weekend.
The Chanticleers enter the weekend 15-20 overall and 1-11 in Sun Belt Conference play while the Warhawks enter at 20-16 overall and 6-9 in Sun Belt action.

CHANTS' LAST TIME OUT
The Chanticleers were scheduled to face Georgia Southern, April 8-10, in Statesboro, Ga. but due to unforeseen circumstances, the series was postponed.
Coastal erased its three-game winless streak on the road Wednesday, April 6, as CCU snapped Campbell's six-game winning streak by a score of 4-1 at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium and handed the Camels just their third loss at home this season.
Makiya Thomas, Keirstin Roose, and Iyanla De Jesus proved to be the difference for the Chants as the top of the order went a combined 10-for-12 at the plate. Notably, De Jesus finished the contest a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate.
Shae Schreckengost tallied back-to-back two-out RBI singles for the first time this season against the Camels.
Coastal used six different pitchers to down the Camels, with De Jesus (1-2) picking up her first win of the season, as the junior saw 1.0 inning of work and allowed two hits, one run, and struck out one. Kaitlin Beasley-Polko (8-6, 2 saves) earned her second save of the season allowing just one hit and walking one. Nicolette Picone saw 2.0 innings of work for the Chants, the most of any pitcher, and recorded one strikeout.
WARHAWKS' LAST TIME OUT
ULM took two games of the three-game series against Texas State, April 8-10, in Monroe, La. The Warhawks tallied wins on Friday and Saturday, before falling in the series finale on Sunday.
Friday's 5-4 victory marked ULM's 1,000th program win, while Saturday saw the Warhawks need just six innings to defeat the Bobcats, 10-2.
SERIES HISTORY
In a series that dates back 30 years, CCU trails 6-10 all-time against ULM. The first matchup took place on May 16, 1992 – a 10-3 victory for the Warhawks in a neutral site matchup. Most recently the two met in the opening round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, where ULM handed Coastal an 8-6 loss.
Coastal's claimed its last victory (2-0) over ULM on March 14, 2021, on the road in Monroe, La.
HOME RUN CLINIC
The Chanticleers have hit 46 total home runs while opponents have hit just 29. So far this season, 10 different Coastal players have hit home runs. De Jesus took the reins of the offensive efforts for Coastal, as the junior recorded her team-leading ninth home run against the Jaguars.
Roose is close behind, having recorded eight homers. Riley Zana has recorded seven, while Abbey Montoya and Payton Ebersole have each recorded five. Maddy Jennings (4), Madison Hudson (4), Thomas (2), Jay Wrightsman (1), and Abby Jankay (1) have also contributed to Coastal's home run tally.
KAITLIN BEASLEY-POLKO
With her save against the Camels, Beasley-Polko is now tied with Ashley Guillette for the all-time saves leader in Chanticleers history, with 11 total saves.
