CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball returns to the road for the first of its two-final regular-season road games of the 2022 season as the Chanticleers are set to face off against the Charlotte 49ers on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. ET at Sue M. Daughtridge Stadium.

CHANTS LAST TIME OUT
Coastal enters Wednesday's matchup with an overall record of 18-23 and on a three-game winning streak after picking up the first series sweep of the season over Georgia State last weekend.
With their win over Georgia State on Friday, by a score of 3-2, the Chanticleers snapped a 12-game Sun Belt Conference winless streak before downing the Panthers 12-10 on Saturday afternoon to capture the series win. Sunday saw CCU come out strong and hold the Panthers to just two runs as the hosts recorded an 8-2 victory and a sweep of GSU.
Makiya Thomas led the Chanticleers batting .600 (6-for-10) from the leadoff spot. She slugged her eighth home run of the season in game two of the series while also smashing a pair of extra-base hits and recording two RBIs against the Panthers. The Tacoma, Washington native also tallied five runs scored, one stolen base, and five putouts.
Kaitlin Beasley-Polko picked up her 10th victory of the season as she claimed two of the three victories against Georgia State. The graduate student allowed six runs off nine hits in 13.2 innings of work while also striking out 16 Panthers in the process.
49ERS LAST TIME OUT
Charlotte returns home after a six-game road trip with an overall record of 16-20 and on a four-game losing streak. The 49ers were set to host South Carolina on April 26, but the contest was canceled.
In a non-conference weekend series, Charlotte was swept by Georgia Tech on April 23-24 on the road in Atlanta. Saturday's doubleheader saw the Yellow Jackets down Charlotte 3-2 in 10 innings, before 8-2 in game two. On Sunday, Charlotte fell 7-4.

Coastal Carolina and Charlotte first met on April 15, 1988 – a 4-3 victory for CCU in Greenville, N.C.
It's been nearly 20 years since the two teams last faced off in 2004. The 49ers snapped a seven-game Chanticleers winning streak with their 3-2 victory on April 2.
HOME RUN CLINIC
The Chanticleers have hit 56 total home runs while opponents have hit 32. So far this season, 11 different Coastal players have hit home runs.
Iyanla De Jesus took the reins of the offensive efforts for Coastal, as the junior recorded her team-leading ninth home run against South Alabama on April 2.
Keirstin Roose and Riley Zana are close behind, having each recorded eight homers. Abbey Montoya has knocked six out of the park while Thomas, Payton Ebersole, and Maddy Jennings have each slugged five. Madison Hudson has four, while Jay Wrightsman (3), Abby Jankay (2), and Shae Schreckengost (1) have also contributed to Coastal's home run tally.
IN 'EIGHT' COMPANY*
With her eight home runs so far this season,
Roose is one of just eight all-time Chanticleer freshmen to hit at least eight home runs in their debut season as a Chant. Notably, volunteer assistant coach Kassidy Smith recorded 12 homers during her freshman campaign (2017).
