CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team will travel to Deland, Fla. for its final regular-season game of the 2022 season this week in an ASUN contest against the Stetson Hatters with the opening draw scheduled for noon ET on Saturday, April 30.
The Chanticleers are 5-10 on the year and 1-3 in the ASUN, having dropped their last contest against the Kennesaw State Owls last Saturday at home.
The Hatters enter play with a 4-10 record and 1-3 mark in conference play, including a pair of non-conference wins over Winthrop and Presbyterian earlier this season.
The winner of this weekend's matchup will be the No. 4 seed in the 2022 ASUN Women's Lacrosse Championship. The 2022 ASUN Women's Lacrosse Championship will be a four-team, single-elimination tournament contested over two days. The top four teams, based on regular-season conference standings, will advance to the championship.
COASTAL vs. STETSON HISTORY
Saturday's contest will be the seventh meeting between the two teams with Coastal holding a 6-0 advantage in the overall series. The Chants claimed a 13-8 road victory over Stetson in the last meeting on April 25, 2021, recording their sixth straight victory in the series and third at Athletic Training Center.

The Chants' scoring attack is led by
Lauren Cremen (29 goals),
Avery McIlwaine (19 goals),
Kayla Downey (19 goals),
Megan Bozzi (18 goals), and
Abi George (18 goals), while
Avery Snyder, and
Hannah Close each have added 11 and 11 goals, respectively.
Hannah Demis, who leads the ASUN in assists, and Downey are the top two assist leaders for the Chants with 24 and 17 assists, respectively, while three Chants in Snyder (32), McIlwaine (30), Close (22), and
Abby Cooper (22) have combined for 106-of-192 draw controls to start the offensive attack.
Defensively, Coastal goalkeeper
Claire Martell has faced 392 shots and made 127 saves on the season.
Marissa Munson and
Avery Whitehead have caused 11 turnovers, while
Claudia Kelly and Snyder have chipped in with 10 and eight caused turnovers, respectively. Martell (28), Munson (19), Whitehead (13), and Kelly (12) have scooped up 72-of-195 ground balls so far this season.
ABOUT STETSON
Stetson is led by Samantha Pagilino with 24 goals, while Jordyn Humphrey and Saige Roe have contributed with 19 and 17 scores, respectively. The Hatter's Jessica Duggan leads the team with 12 assists with Saige-Lyn Gidzinski adding 11 assists on the season. Molly Kearney (32), Maria Snee (29), Jacklyn Lavoie (28), and Roe (21) get the offense started having won 20 or more draw controls each.
On the defensive end, both Kiera McCarthy and Sydney Heimann have seen action between the pipes with McCarthy facing 283 shots and making 70 saves, while Heimann has faced 139 shots and stopping 40. Mia Judd and Christina Nikolai have helped stop the opponents' offense from scoring by causing 22 and 10 turnovers, respectively, while Judd (28), Nikolai (24), and Luisa Medina (18) have grabbed a combined 70-of-217 ground balls.
