CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina's
Iyanla De Jesus has been named to the 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-American First Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday.
The junior, tallied a 3.89 cumulative grade point average while working towards her bachelor's in Exercise & Sport Science, earned Academic All-District 4 first team honors.
In 49 games, De Jesus hit for a .340 overall average with 10 doubles, nine home runs, and 33 RBI with 14 runs scored. She tallied 10 multi-hit games this season with four games with three or more hits, including a four-hit game at Campbell in April, to go along with six multi-RBI games.
De Jesus leads CCU in doubles (10) and also ranks in the top five for the Chanticleers in batting average (.340), slugging percentage (.592), on-base percentage (.390), hits (50), and walks (14). Against Monmouth on Feb. 24, De Jesus recorded back-to-back home runs.
Notably, the Mill Creek, Wash. native was named Second Team All-Sun Belt for her efforts on the field this season.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America program separately recognizes baseball and softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and the NAIA.
