ATLANTA, Ga. – Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse attacker
Kayla Downey was tabbed the ASUN Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
The conference weekly award is the second of Downey's career, as she was named the SoCon Offensive Player of the Week for the first time on April 27, 2021. This is the first-ever ASUN Conference weekly award for the Babylon, N.Y. native.
Downey recorded a career-high six goals against Stetson to lead the Chants to a 23-13 win over the Hatters in DeLand, Fla., last Saturday.
The Chanticleers went 1-0 last week, snapping a four-game skid with the road win over Stetson to lock up the No. 4 seed in the upcoming 2022 ASUN Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament.
The Chanticleers (6-10) will return to the road for their next contest. Coastal Carolina will play at Jacksonville on May 5 in the semifinals against the No. 1 overall seed Jacksonville Dolphins.
