Cross Country Travels to Spartanburg for Upstate Invitational

CONWAY, S.C. - After dominating on their home course, the Coastal Carolina men's and women's cross country teams are set to travel to Spartanburg, S.C. for the Upstate Invitational, hosted by USC Upstate.
The field for this weekend's meet features 37 participating schools in both the men's and women's events, including conference-rivals Appalachian State, Georgia State, and James Madison.
Last time out, the Chanticleers beat out UNC Willington, Campbell, and Francis Marion for the top spot in both the women's 5k and the men's 8k event at the Chanticleer Challenge, coming in with an average time of 18:44 and 26:31, respectively.
The Lady Chants finished with each of the top three runners, with senior Molly Jones finishing first at 17:10, redshirt junior Ellie Wolski in second at 18:07, and junior Amilia Wise-Sweat in third at 18:48.
Joining Jones, Wolski, and Wise-Sweat for this weekend's meet are freshmen Erin McQuitty, Mary Kathryn Huddleston, Olivia Goeser, and Megan Dolan.
On the men's side, Coastal finished with four of the top six runners with senior Nehemiah Cionelo recording the first top-place finish of his career. Freshmen Sterling Sellier and Adam Groves came in third and fourth, with junior George Werner Jr. finishing in sixth.
Also competing for the Chants this weekend are Tomas Duncan, Julian John, Jack Benoit, Jackson Brungart, Trey Kraimer, and Ethan Blackwelder.
The Upstate Invitational from Spartanburg, S.C. will open tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. ET, starting with the women's 5k, followed by the men's 8k at 9:45 a.m. ET.
