Chants Set for Start of Postseason Play at SBC Championships

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's and women's cross country teams are set for the start of postseason play tomorrow in Foley, Ala. at the SBC Conference Championships.

CCU ended its fall regular season schedule on Oct. 14 at the Upstate Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C. The women finished 10th in the 5k event, while the men finished ninth in the 8k event with average times of 18:20 and 25:57, respectively.

Senior Molly Jones and redshirt-junior Ellie Wolski continued to lead the Chants on the individual leaderboard. Jones took home first-place for the third time this season with a 16:53 time, while Wolski finished third with a 17:06 time.

Also running for the Lady Chants this weekend are junior Amilia Wise-Sweat, and freshmen Megan Dolan, Olivia Goeser, Mary Kathryn Huddleston and Erin McQuitty.

On the men's side, senior transfer Nehemiah Cionelo continued his strong form, taking 33rd in the men's 8k at the Upstate Invitational with a 25:23 time.

Filling out the remainder of this weekend's lineup for the Chants are juniors Jack Benoit, Ethan Blackwelder, Tomas Duncan, Julian John and Trey Kraimer and freshmen Adam Groves and Sterling Sellier.

The SBC Conference Championships from Foley, Ala. will start tomorrow morning with the women's 5k event at 10:00 a.m. ET, followed by the men's 8k event at 10:45 a.m. ET.
