MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team finished 12th at the Rivertowne Invitational after shooting a 36-over 900 at the Rivertowne Country Club in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. The Chants moved up four spots in Tuesday's final round after shooting a seven-over 295.
Sara Sarrion had a solid tournament with a one-over 217 finish (73-71-73) to end the event tied for ninth.
Isabella Galla finished her first tournament as a Chanticleer with an eight-over 224 (74-78-72) to finish tied for 34th.
Luisa Gibson finished just one shot behind Galla with a nine-over 225 (76-77-72) and finished tied for 39th.
Clare Gimpel finished tied for 85th after finishing the invite with a 24-over 240 (82-80-78), while
Isabella Spinazee finished 87th with a 25-over 241 (76-81-84).
High Point finished with a five-over 869 to win the event. Tulane and host Charleston Southern tied for second after each carded a nine-over 873. Boston College (+14, 878) and USC Upstate (+27, 888) rounded out the top five on the team leaderboard.
Close finishes continued among the second five led by Western Carolina's +27, 891. Elon (+28, 892), Lipscomb (+30, 894) and North Alabama (+32, 896) followed, while Seton Hall and Morehead State finished tied for 10th at +33, 897.
Coastal and Jacksonville tied for 12th at +36, 900 in front of the rest of the field, including UNCA (+39, 903), Richmond (+40, 904), Longwood (+41, 905), Fairleigh Dickinson (+48, 912), Winthrop (+105, 969), and The Citadel (+166, 1,030).
The Chanticleers will be back in action on Saturday and Sunday, March 11-12, at the Valspar Augusta Invitational held at the Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.
