Chants to Compete at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational

Chants will compete at Liberty on Friday and Saturday
CONWAY, S.C. – Following a week off of competition, the Coastal Carolina University women's indoor track & field team will return to action this weekend at the 9th annual Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational on Feb. 10-11 at Liberty University.
The Chanticleers will send a mix of both track and field student-athletes to compete at the two-day invitational event, including eight sprinters and hurdlers and three distance runners, while nine Chants will compete in the jump events and two more in the throws.
Headlining the competing Chants this weekend are hurdlers Alex Glasco (8.21), Sydney Clemens (8.36), and Amanda Kinloch (8.43), who rank second, third, and fifth in the Sun Belt Conference in the 60-meter hurdles, as well as Kayla Sweeney, who ranks in the top 10 in the Sun Belt in both the 60-meters (7.46) and 200-meters (24.31), and Lauren Gordon, who is third in the Sun Belt with a time of 55.63 in the 400-meters.
CCU's Amelia Canetto and Brianna Tillman will also run over the weekend, as the two will both compete in the 300-meters, while Tillman is also scheduled to run in the 400-meters.
In the distance events, Amilia Wise-Sweat will run in the 800-meters, an event in which she ranks second in the Sun Belt Conference with a time of 2:12.12, while fellow Chant Molly Jones will race in the 1-mile run after setting the school record and posting the second-fastest time in the Sun Belt Conference at 4:48.65 two weeks ago at the Bob Pollock Invite.
On top of that, first-year Chant Ellie Wolski will compete in the 3000-meters where her top time of 10:07.53 this year ranks 18th overall in the Sun Belt Conference.
Sophomores Zayna Fray-Samuel and Lauralyn Clifford will both compete in the weight throw event at the two-day meet, as both sit in the top-10 of the Sun Belt Conference with marks of 17.83 meters and 17.25 meters, respectively.
Several Chants will participate in the jump events at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational, led by Kynnedy Dennis and Camryn Lorick. Dennis ranks fifth in the Sun Belt in the pole vault event with a height of 3.72 meters, while Lorick is tied for eighth in the high jump with a season-best mark of 1.68 meters.
Joining Lorick in the high jump event will be Kadasia Evans, while five Chants in Mia Lewis, Claire Spiller, Keiran Martin, Kirsten Maybach, and Destiny St. Cyr will compete in the long jump event. Both Lewis and Spiller will also jump in the triple jump event.
Senior Nikki Boon, who ranks 20th in the SBC with a mark of 5.63 meters in the long jump, will compete in the 500-meters, 60-meter hurdles, and the high jump event as she prepares for the pentathlon at the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 20-21.
