CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team has got off to a stellar start to the season, going 13-2 with the help of some outstanding performances from five Chanticleers who are listed in the NCAA softball statistical rankings.
Raelee Brabham (6-1) has dominated in the circle recording 50 strikeouts on the season so far which ranks her 27th in the nation. It does not stop there for Brabham, as her 11.7 strikeouts per seven innings secures her the ninth spot and her six victories places her in 13th in the NCAA.
Sophomore
Nicolette Picone (2-1) has been a clutch relief pitcher for the Chanticleers recording four saves on the season to date, which places her second in the NCAA rankings.
Powerhouse
Maddy Jennings has been on a home run frenzy smashing seven on the season to date, ranking her third in the NCAA overall. Jennings is also eighth in slugging percentage (1.054), 11th in home runs hit per game (.47), and 28th in total bases (39).
Fellow seniors
Diamond Williams and
Iyanla De Jesus are pivotal players in the Chants offensive lineup and also rank in the top 30 in the NCAA statistical rankings. Williams is ranked 20th in the nation with 19 RBIs, while De Jesus comes in at 27th with 18 RBIs on the season.
