CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team will travel to Jacksonville, Fla., to compete in the DUUUVAL Duals hosted by North Florida on Friday and Saturday, March 3-4.
Coastal Carolina enters the weekend at 2-2 overall on the young season.
Also competing in the two-day tournament is the College of Charleston (3-2), Mercer (0-4), Jacksonville (2-3), and host North Florida (1-3).
NATIONAL RANKING
The Sandy Chants are nationally ranked for the first time in program history, as Coastal Carolina came in at No. 19 in the collegebeachvb.com poll and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Collegiate Beach Coaches Top 20 Poll the Sandy Chants enter at No. 20.
SUN BELT PAIR OF THE WEEK
The duo of
Madie Lichty and
Sarlota Svobodova were named the first Sun Belt Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week in the 2023 season for their performances last weekend versus four top-20 teams. Lichty and Svobodova finished 2-2 over two days, with wins over nationally-ranked No. 13 Cal Poly (21-18, 21-18) and No. 20 Washington (21-19, 22-20).
COASTAL & COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON HISTORY
The two teams will be meeting for the 10th time, as the Sandy Chants trail in the all-time series 3-6. The Cougars have picked up the win in each of the last two meetings, both in April of last year.
COASTAL & NORTH FLORIDA HISTORY
Coastal trails the all-time series with the Ospreys 0-6 and are looking for its first-ever win over UNF. The two programs las met in March 2022 with North Florida winning its sixth-straight match at 3-2.
COASTAL & MERCER HISTORY
The Sandy Chants lead the all-time series 9-6 and currently own a nine-match winning streak over the Bears. The two teams met three times in the 2022 season.
COASTAL & JACKSONVILLE HISTORY
Coastal Carolina is on a seven-match winning streak over the Dolphins after dropping the first four matches between the programs to lead the all-time series at 7-4. The Chanticleers picked up a pair of 5-0 sweeps versus Jacksonville in the 2022 season.
