Women’s Tennis Gets Back on Track with 4-1 Win at USM

Chants are now 5-1 in SBC play
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team bounced back from a road loss at South Alabama to get back on track with a 4-1 road win at Southern Miss in Sun Belt Conference play on Sunday in Hattiesburg, Miss.
CCU moved to 13-5 overall and 5-1 in league play with the win.
In doubles play, the Golden Eagles took the match at the No. 1 position by a score of 6-4 but battled back on courts No. 2 and 3, winning in tiebreakers on both courts to take the doubles point.
The team of Victoire De Samucewicz and Jesse Hollins took the tiebreaker 10-6 to defeat USM's duo of Zenn Lim and Maddison Ricardo 7-6 (10-6) on court No. 3, while the pair of Tatum Burger and Lilie Steryous won in their tiebreaker 10-5 to take the match 7-6 (10-5) on court No. 2 over Suhana Das and Clara Tardivel.
Burger added to the Chants' lead with a 6-2, 6-1 win in straight sets over Tardivel on court No. 3 to kick off singles play before De Samucewicz put the visitors up 3-0 in the match with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Das on court No. 2.
After USM cut the lead to 3-1 with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 win on court No. 1, the Chants' Kata Foldeak returned to action for the first time in six weeks to defeat Ricardo 6-3, 6-4 on court No. 5 to give the Chants the 4-1 road win.
In the two unfinished matches, Hollins led 3-6, 6-3, 2-0 on court No. 4, while Steryous trailed 6-7 (10-8), 5-2 on court No. 6.
Coastal will remain on the road for back-to-back SBC contests at ULM (April 6) and Arkansas State (April 7). The Chanticleers will not return home until April 14 when they will host No. 24 Old Dominion at 10 a.m. ET.
