Women’s Tennis Conquers Troy 6-1 on Senior Day

Chants finished 8-3 overall in conference play
CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team capped its 2023 regular-season slate with a 6-1 win at home over the Troy Trojans on Senior Day, Friday, at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
With the win, CCU moved to 16-7 overall and finished 8-3 in Sun Belt play. With the loss, the Trojans finished the season at 13-7 overall and 6-5
What has been the Chants' calling card all year has been stellar doubles play, as wins on courts No. 2 and 3 scored the doubles point and gave the home team a 1-0 match lead.
Coastal's duo of Tatum Burger and Lilie Steryous dominated in a 6-1 win over Andrea Widing and Valeriia Avdeeva on court No. 2, while the tandem of Jesse Hollins and Victoire De Samucewicz downed the team of Maria Guirguis and Franziska Ahrend 6-2 on court No. 2.
The Chanticleers carried over the momentum from the doubles win into singles play, as Burger picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win on court No. 3 over Avdeeva.
After Troy's Guirguis handed Hollins her first singles loss since Feb. 19 with a 6-2, 6-4 win on court No. 4 to cut the Chants' lead to 2-1, the rest of the singles bouts went in favor of the home-standing Chants for the 6-1 win.
On court No. 5, Kata Foldeak cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Olivia Elliott, while Steryous doubled up Ahrend 6-3, 6-3 on court No. 6 to secure the match win.
Coastal's Anna Babayan held on for a 6-1, 6-4 win over Hagar Amin on court No. 2, while De Samucewicz capped the Senior Day win with a 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-4) third-set tiebreaker win over Kristina Kukaras on court No. 1.
Coastal will now set its sights on the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Women's Tennis Championship Tournament held in Peachtree City, Ga., from April 27-30.
