Coastal Carolina Wraps Up 2023 Regular Season Versus Queens

Women’s lacrosse to honor 10 seniors and graduates in a postgame ceremony

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team will close out the 2023 regular season on Saturday, April 29, as the Chanticleers will host ASUN Conference newcomer Queens University of Charlotte. The opening draw for the Royals and Chants will be at noon ET.
 
Coastal enters the contest at 10-6 overall and 3-3 in conference action after a 20-11 come-from-behind over the Stetson Hatters last week to wrap up the road portion of the schedule.
 
The Royals enter play at 9-6 on the year and 4-2 in league play.
 
SENIOR DAY
The Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team will honor the following seniors and graduates for their contributions to the program, Hope Steuerwald, Abi George, Bethany Bruck, Gabrielle Beckett, Ellie Roser, Jordan Gertz, Marissa Munson, Claire Martell, Kayla Downey, and Brooke Gottlieb.
 
COASTAL vs. QUEENS HISTORY
The Chanticleers and Queens will be meeting for the first time. The Royals are the last of six first-time opponents the Chants will face for the first time this season.
 
ABOUT COASTAL
The CCU offense is led by Downey (48 goals, 35 assists) with 83 points. Avery McIlwaine (32 goals, 16 assists), Sydney McClure (15 goals, 20 assists), and Avery Snyder (9 goals, 18 assists) all have over 25 points on the season, with 48, 35, and 27 points, respectively. The offense has been ignited by Devin Rybacki and McIlwaine, as the duo has won 53 and 40 draw controls each.
 
Defensively, the Chants are anchored by their starting goalkeeper Martell, who has started 15 of 16 contests. The redshirt junior goalie has stopped 91 shots and allowed 107 goals in just over 578 minutes in the cage on the season. Beckett and Gertz have caused 12 turnovers each, while Martell has grabbed 39 groundballs to help return possession back to the offense.
 
ABOUT QUEENS
Queens is led by Kayleen Favreau (37 goals, 9 assists), Shannon Donovan (28 goals, 9 assists), and Shannon Kingston (27 goals, 6 assists) with 46, 37, and 33 points, respectively. Maura O'Donoghue (9 goals, 9 assists), Jillian Gironda (5 goals, 11 assists), Stephanie Joyce (14 goals, 1 assist), and Caroline Pearce (12 goals, 3 assists) have also chipped in with 15 or more points. Grace Guglielmo often gets the offense started by winning 53 draw controls for the Royals to lead the team.
 
Defensively, Queens has split time with goalies Sharn Muffett and Caroline Kraemer, with Kraemer starting eight contests. Muffett (73 goals allowed, 76 saves) and Kraemer (83 goals allowed, 50 saves) have combined to allow 172 goals and make 126 saves in the 388 shots faced. Guglielmo leads the Royals with 43 caused turnovers and has scooped up a team-high 37 groundballs.
