CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team returns to the road for a three-game Sun Belt Conference series against the Troy Trojans in Troy, Ala., on April 6-8.
 
Lookin' Back

• The Chants fell to 28-10 overall after suffering a 5-1 loss to Charlotte on Tuesday.
• CCU outhit the 49ers 6-5 in the loss but couldn't quite push the runs across home plate as the Chants left four stranded in the game.
• Coastal has a deep pitching staff and saw four different pitchers enter the circle versus Charlotte.
• CCU's lone run against the 49ers came from a sacrifice fly by Diamond Williams to score Livi Payne from third base.

 
Scouting the Opponent

• Troy has posted a 26-9-1 overall record and has gone 7-1-1 in SBC play.
• The Chants will be looking to snap Troy's five-game win streak.
• The Trojans have won all three of their Sun Belt series matchups against Texas State, 2-0-1 (March 18-19), ULM, 2-1 (March 24-26), and Southern Miss, 3-0 (March 31-April 2).
• Taylor McKinney leads the team for the Trojans and has posted a .387 batting average while driving in 38 RBIs on the season.
• Leanna Johnson is Troy's starting pitcher and has recorded 134 strikeouts in her 136.0 innings of work in the circle. The senior ranks second in the Sun Belt with a 1.13 ERA and leads both the conference and the nation with 19 wins of the season.
• The Chants will need to look out for D'Aun Riggs who has crushed five triples on the season which is more than the Chanticleers' combined total.
• Both the Chants and the Trojans have faced Charleston Southern this season. Troy downed the Buccaneers 6-3 but CCU fell short 2-1.

 
History Against

• CCU has a 7-9 overall record against the Troy Trojans.
• The Chants have played the Trojans on the road in three of their 16 meetings and have not been able to secure a victory at the Troy Softball Complex. However, CCU has won all three games that took place at a neutral site.
• Coastal last faced the Trojans in the second Sun Belt Conference Championship elimination game in 2022 where the Chants won 3-2 to progress to the semifinals.
• Troy's pitchers crumbled under the pressure in its last meeting with CCU as they allowed two runs to be scored off a walk and a wild pitch. Kennedy Ellis was the hero for the Chants as she scored the game-winning running in the top of the seventh inning.
• CCU has lost its last three, three-game SBC series matchups to Troy in 2018, 2019, and 2022, but swept the Trojans 3-0 in 2017.
• The Chants have won three out of their last 10 matchups with the Trojans.
