Chants are now 6-1 in SBC play

JONESBORO, Ark. – Despite the match being moved from Louisiana to Arkansas due to continual inclement weather throughout the state of Louisiana, the Coastal Carolina women's team defeated the ULM Warhawks 5-2 in Sun Belt Conference play at Arkansas State in Jonesboro, Ark.

With the win, CCU moved to 14-5 overall and 6-1 in league play.

ULM jumped out to an early 1-0 match lead after doubles play, as the Warhawks secured wins on courts No. 1 and 3 to start the bout.

Down 1-0, the Chants kicked off singles play with a 6-2, 6-2 straight-set win by Jesse Hollins over Angela Del Campo Suarez on court No. 4 to tie the match up at 1-1.

CCU's Kata Foldeak followed with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Giovanna Pereira on court No. 5 to put the Chants in front 2-1 before Anna Babayan added to the Coastal lead with a 7-5, 6-2 win on court No. 2 over Oleksandra Balaba.

The Chants' secured the win with a 6-1, 6-4 victory from Lilie Steryous over Tamara Bachmann on court No. 6 to go up 4-1 with two matches still on the court.

Tatum Burger scored a 6-7 (7-3), 7-5, 1-0 (10-7) tiebreaker win over Alice Klinteby on court No. 3 to put the Chants up 5-1 before the Warhawks' Alessandra Anghel spoiled Coastal's chance at a clean sweep in singles play with a 6-3, 0-6, 6-4 win over Victoire De Samucewicz on court No. 1 to put the final score at 5-2.

Coastal will turn around to play Arkansas State tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET in Jonesboro, Ark.
