CONWAY, S.C. – Among Coastal Carolina University's 2023 spring graduates this weekend, a total of 60 were student-athletes across 14 sports, as well as both the cheer and dance teams.
Highlighting graduation weekend was two student-athletes in
Nikki Boon of women's track & field and
Brooke Gottlieb of women's lacrosse receiving the President's Award at the University Commencement Ceremony for graduating with a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average.
In addition to the graduates, four former student-athletes and members of the Sasser Hall of Fame participated in the graduation ceremonies as speakers.
Brooke Weisbrod (2001), who played women's basketball, softball, and tennis at CCU, was the University Commencement Speaker and received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree, while
Cari Rosiek of softball (2000 and 2023) gave the Alumni Address for the CMC College of Health and Human Performance Ceremony.
Maurice Simpkins of football (2006) gave the Keynote Address for the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration Ceremony, while former football standout
Josh Norman (2018) made the Keynote Address for the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts Ceremony.
The 2023 spring graduates were honored over the weekend of May 5-8.
