Coastal Softball Heads to the 2023 Sun Belt Championship Tournament

CONWAY, S.C. – The No. 7 seeded Coastal Carolina softball team (35-19, 11-13 Sun Belt) heads to Lafayette, La., for the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Softball Championship Tournament this Wednesday. The Chants will take on the No. 10-seeded Southern Miss (22-13, 6-17 Sun Belt) in the opening round at 2 p.m. ET.

The senior ranks second on the team in hits (57), RBIs (38), and sacrifice flies (2), and top five in triples (1), home runs (8), total bases (90), slugging percentage (.552), and on-base percentage (.403).
- Williams is a new addition to the Chanticleers' squad after transferring from Mercer and has made her mark in the Sun Belt statistical rankings, placing in the top 10 for runs (44), hits (60), RBIs (46), OPS (1.065), and home runs (13).
- Southern Miss is the No. 10 seed in the Sun Belt Championship Tournament and posted a 22-23 overall record on the season while going 6-17 in Sun Belt action.

- Graduate student Abbey Montoya had the number over Southern Miss in the last series where she went 6-for-8 at the plate, posting a .750 batting average, while recording three RBIs, a double, and a run.
- If the Chanticleers can overcome the Southern Miss Golden Eagles they will face the No. 2 seed Marshall.
