Men’s Soccer Set to Host Furman

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team will host the Furman Paladins at the CCU Soccer Stadium on Monday, Sept. 11. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET.

Chant Talk

The Chants return to the CCU Soccer Stadium for one home match before hitting the road to face Georgia Southern on Sept. 15 in their Sun Belt Conference regular-season opener.
CCU has an even 2-2 record on the season.
Deryn Armstrong is the front-runner for the Chants, as he leads the team in points (3) while tying in first in goals (1), assists (1), shots (7), shots on goal (4), and game-winning goals (1).
Christian Cook and Evan Howard are the only other Chants to pick up a goal on the year.

Last Time Out

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers suffered a 2-0 shutout loss to the College of Charleston Cougars on Tuesday night.
The Cougars notched their first goal in the 36th and followed up with an insurance goal in the 54th minute to dismiss the Chants.
CofC led CCU 12-10 in shots and 6-2 in saves.
Each team picked up three yellow cards on the night.

History Against

CCU has a 3-3-1 overall record against Furman.
The Chants will be looking to pick up their first home win against the Paladins.
Their first matchup dates back to 1986 when CCU suffered a 2-0 shutout loss.
Coastal last faced the Paladins in September 2022 when the Chants took a 3-1 win with the help of an assist from Noe Santos.
The Chants delivered two shutout wins versus the Paladins in 2003 and 2004.

Scouting the Opponent

Furman has posted a 2-2 record on the season.
Their first win came in their season-opener when they beat Elon 2-1 (Aug. 25).
The Paladins have suffered losses to No. 4 Duke and No. 16 Wake Forest.
Last time out, the Paladins beat the Winthrop Eagles 2-1. The Chants fell to the Eagles 2-0 in their season opener.
Christian Kraus leads the team with two goals and two assists.
