Chants Head South to take on College of Charleston

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team heads south to take on the College of Charleston Cougars in its first away contest of the season. The Chants will take the field at 7 p.m. ET on Sept. 5.

Chant Talk

This is the Chants' first road contest of the 2023 season.
Transfer senior Deryn Armstrong leads the team with three points, scoring the game-winning goal versus William & Mary while tallying an assist versus USC Upstate.
When the Chants take the lead, they do not take their foot off the gas posting a 2-0 record when scoring first.
CCU has outshot its opponents 42-37 on the season.

Last Time Out

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers picked up their second win of the season on Friday night against the USC Upstate Spartans.
The Chants took a 1-0 victory after Evan Howard bagged his first goal of the year with the help of an assist from Armstrong.
CCU led the Spartans 16-15 in shots with each team taking five shots on goal.
Coastal trailed USC Upstate 10-12 in fouls and 3-5 in saves but Kilian Vallant made five saves to the Spartans' four.

History Against

The Chants have a long-standing history versus the Cougars with their first encounter dating back to 1978.
Coastal leads the series 20-10-4, and the Chants have posted a 10-6-2 record while on the road.
The last matchup came in November 2021 when the Chants claimed a 2-1 win at the CCU Soccer Stadium.

Scouting the Opponent

The Cougars have posted a 1-0-2 record on the season.
Their lone win came against the Drexel Dragons (Sept. 2) when Leonardo D'Ambrosio scored the game-winning goal from the penalty spot in the 89th minute of the match.
CofC's two ties came against Stetson (Aug. 24) and North Florida (Aug. 27).
Five different Cougars have tallied a goal on the season but D'Ambrosio leads with two assists.
