Smith Named Full-Time Softball Assistant

CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina's volunteer assistant coach Kassidy Smith has been named a full-time assistant with the softball program, according to head coach Kelley Green.

Smith returned to her alma mater to serve as volunteer assistant during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. The Collinsville, Ill., native helped lead the team to a 25-29 and a 36-20 overall record in 2022 and 2023, respectively. Smith also helped to coach two NFCA All-region selections, two All-Sun Belt selections, one pitcher of the week, and a COSIDA All-American.

Smith was a four-year starter on the Coastal Carolina softball roster from 2017-2020, where she made 189 appearances while tallying 110 runs, 199 hits, and 101 RBI. She also places fourth in Coastal's all-time record book with 38 career home runs and is atop of the CCU record books with 118 walks and 41 hit-by-pitches.

Prior to working at CCU, Smith started her coaching career as an assistant and head coach at the Extreme Baseball & Softball Club in Collinsville, Ill., from 2017-2021. During the fall of 2020-2021, Smith served as both the head coach of the 10u-2010 team as well as acting as the head softball catching network trainer. In 2021, she led the 18u Midwest and 12-2010 teams as head coach.

While working at the Extreme Baseball & Softball Club, Smith also was a youth hitting and catching instructor at Turn 2 Training from the fall of 2020 to the fall of 2021 and served as an assistant coaching at Collinsville High School (Spring 2021).
