CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team will open up Sun Belt Conference play with a three-game series versus the Troy Trojans at St. John Stadium beginning on Friday evening. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. ET.

LAST TIME OUT

The Chants suffered an 8-6 defeat to the No. 16/22 Boston Terriers after rallying from an 8-0 deficit.
Brie Normandin and Ava Hampton each tallied their first career home runs in a sequence of three back-to-back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Indya Smith led off the home run frenzy with her fifth of the year bringing in three runs for the Chants.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

Troy is 20-8 on the season.
The Trojans are sitting on a four-game winning streak after beating LIU, Stonehill, Sacred Heart, and Columbia.
Jade Sinness leads the team with a .422 batting average and her 30 RBIs on the season ranks her tied for 14th in the NCAA. The senior outfielder also picked up Sun Belt Player of the Week honors on Tuesday and leads the conference in hits (35), RBIs (30), and home runs (7).
Libby Baker tops the team with a 2.89 ERA and has a 8-3 record in the circle. The senior has pitched seven complete games for the Trojans and has recorded 34 strikeouts.
The Trojans rank in the top 30 in the NCAA for batting average (0.326), fielding percentage (0.976), on-base percentage (.408), scoring (6.32), and walks (96).

HISTORY AGAINST

CCU has an 8-11 series record versus the Trojans.
The Chants delivered a 4-0 shutout to Troy last time out with the help of an RBI double from Riley Zana.
Coastal has a 1-4 three-game series record versus Troy. Their lone series win came in 2017 when the Chants won three straight at St. John Stadium.
CCU has a 4-6 home record against the Trojans.

STANDINGS IN THE SUN BELT

Coastal leads the Sun Belt with 27 home runs on the year. Ten CCU players have recorded a home run on the season and Smith and Iyanla De Jesus lead the team with five apiece.
Delaney Keith places tied for seventh with 20 runs scored on the season and tied for fourth with 11 stolen bases.
De Jesus ranks tied for fifth 22 RBIs and tied for third with five home runs.
Normandin is tied for second with five sac bunts, Libby Pippin sits in second place with 14 walks, and Smith is in the second spot with five hit-by-pitches.
Raelee Brabham is first in wins (12), fourth in strikeouts (74), and second in innings pitched (80.2).
Nicolette Picone leads the Sun Belt with four saves.
