Box Score CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team swept the Georgia State Panthers 4-1 on Senior Day at St. John Stadium this Sunday.
With the win, the Chants improve to 32-19,12-9 Sun Belt and pick up their fourth straight conference win of the season.
Coastal got off to a quick start in the bottom of the first inning after a three-base error allowed Delaney Keith to reach home to make the score 1-0. Georgia Hood then plated two more runs when she smashed a two-run home run over the left-field wall to put CCU up 3-0.
In the top of the third inning, GSU's Chloe Middlebrooks launched a solo homer over the left-field wall to narrow the gap to 3-1.
After two scoreless innings, the Chants added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth when senior Payton Ebersole laced an RBI single to right field to drive in pinch runner Jay Wrightsman, extending Coastal's lead to 4-1.
The Panthers threatened to come back in the top of the seventh, putting the tying run on deck with a walk and a single, but Raelee Brabham struck out the final batter to give CCU the 4-1 win.
Brabham earned her 23rd win in the circle, allowing one run while striking out eight batters in her 11th complete game of the year.
The Chanticleers will hit the road next weekend for their final Sun Belt Conference series of the season versus the James Madison Dukes on May 3-5.
