Kitchin Named ASUN Defensive Player of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. – Freshman midfielder Evelyn Kitchin has been named this week's ASUN Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Apr. 22-27, per the announcement from the Atlantic Sun Conference.
In CCU's 17-7 win over Kennesaw State in the regular season finale at Brooks Stadium, Kitchin recorded her second-highest draw control total of the season with 11. Her season-high for draw controls this season is 13 against Stetson in a 24-17 win over the Hatters on Apr. 21, leading CCU to clinching the No. 2 seed in the ASUN Conference Championship. With her performance on Saturday against the Owls, Kitchin passed current midfielder Devin Rybacki, who recorded 67 draw controls just a season ago, for the Coastal single season draw control record with 73 in 2024.
Kitchin has made 16 appearances this season for the Chants, starting in 11, scoring 10 goals, along with two ground balls and five caused turnovers.
The Chants are set to face the No. 3 seed Lindenwood Lions on Thursday, May 2 in the semifinals of the ASUN Conference Championship at Rock Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. at 4 P.M. ET.
