ASUN Announces 2024 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Awards

ATLANTA, Ga. – The ASUN has announced its All-Conference honors and awards list for the 2024 season, per the release from the conference office today.
In the individual awards, Senior Avery McIlwaine was awarded her second consecutive Midfielder of the Year award after recording 29 goals, 14 assists, 43 points, 20 ground balls, 12 caused turnovers and 23 draw controls in 17 starts. Last season, McIlwaine was named ASUN Midfielder of the Year following her junior season.
Midfielder Evelyn Kitchin was named Freshman of the Year, finishing the regular season with 10 goals, two ground balls, five caused turnovers and a CCU single season record 73 draw controls. Earlier this week, Kitchin was named ASUN Defensive Player of the Week for her 11-draw control performance against Kennesaw State in the regular season finale.
Head Coach Rachel Shuck Whitten was named ASUN Coach of the Year for the first time in her tenure at CCU. In her third season as head coach of Coastal Carolina, Shuck Whitten led the Chants to a 12-5 overall record, 5-1 in conference play, and Coastal's highest seeding in the ASUN Conference Championship.
For the team awards, four Chants were named to the All-Conference First Team, including goalkeeper Charlotte Sadler, defender Jordan Gertz, McIlwaine and forward Sydney McClure. This marks the first All-Conference honor for both Sadler and McClure, the second for Gertz and the third for McIlwaine.
Junior attacker Brigid Cardillo was the lone Chant named to the All-Conference Second Team. This season, the North Carolina-native recorded 18 goals, a team-high 29 assists, 47 points, 13 ground balls, five caused turnovers and a draw control in 16 appearances.
Kitchin and Gabrielle Beaudet were tabbed to the All-Freshman Team. This marks Kitchin's third honor of the week, along with her Defensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Year awards. In her first collegiate season, Beaudet recorded eight goals, two assists, 10 points, five ground balls, a pair of caused turnovers and 10 draw controls in 13 appearances.
In addition to the athletic awards, Cardillo, Monica Manley, McClure and McIlwaine were all named to the Academic All-Conference team. This was Cardillo and McClure's first honor, McIlwaine's second and Manley third.
The Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team is set to face the No. 3 seed Lindenwood Lions tomorrow afternoon at 4 P.M. ET in the semifinals of the ASUN Conference Championship at Rock Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla.
