Coastal Softball Heads North to Take on James Madison

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team will head north to take on the James Madison Dukes in Harrisonburg, Va., for its final Sun Belt Conference series of the season on May 2-4.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Chants swept the Georgia State Panthers last weekend to pick up their fourth series win of the season.
  • This is the first time CCU has won four series in a year since 2019.
  • Delaney Keith hit home runs in back-to-back at-bats on Friday, becoming only player in the NCAA to achieve the feat twice this season.
  • Raelee Brabham pitched two complete games, striking out 15 batters to pick up her 22nd and 23rd wins in the circle this year.
  • Georgia Hood hit homers in consecutive games versus the Panthers last weekend.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
  • James Madison has a 29-19 overall record and has gone 11-10 in league play.
  • The Dukes suffered a series sweep defeat to Georgia Southern last weekend. The Chants downed the Eagles 2-1 at the end of May.
  • JMU has picked up Sun Belt wins over App State, Marshall, and Georgia State this year.
  • The Dukes are currently sixth in the Sun Belt standings.
  • JMU has six players batting over .300 this season with Reed Bulter leading the team with a .411 batting average.
  • KK Mathis tops the team with 38 RBIs while Bella Henzler leads with 11 home runs.
  • Every starting pitcher on the JMU pitching staff has a positive record in the circle with Alissa Humphrey leading with a 10-5 record and 92 strikeouts.
 
HISTORY AGAINST
  • CCU has a 2-6 all-time record versus JMU.
  • Coastal has played one Sun Belt Conference series versus the Dukes and suffered a 2-1 defeat.
  • The first matchup was in 2007 when CCU was downed 5-4.
  • This will be their first contest at JMU's home stadium in Harrisonburg, Va.
  • Five of their eight contests have been one-run games.
  • Keith and Riley Zana hit a home run and a two-run double, respectively, in CCU's last win versus JMU.
