CONWAY, S.C. – The No. 4-seeded Coastal Carolina softball team will head to San Marcos, Texas, for the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Championship Tournament. After receiving a bye, the Chants will take on No. 5-seeded Troy in the quarterfinals at 2 p.m. ET.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Chants picked up their fifth conference series win of the season when they downed James Madison 2-1.
- CCU defeated JMU 8-7 in the series opener with the help of four RBIs by Sun Belt Player of the Week Georgia Hood.
- Hood and Iyanla De Jesus hit back-to-back home runs in game one. This is the third time CCU has hit two consecutive home runs this season.
- Brie Normandin tallied her second multi-RBI game of the year to help the Chants secure an 8-4 victory over the Dukes.
- With the series win, CCU finished 14-10 on the season, the Chants' best Sun Belt Conference record in program history.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- Troy has a 33-21 overall record and finished 13-11 in Sun Belt play.
- The Trojans are sitting on a two-game losing streak after taking a 2-1 series loss to No. 17 Louisiana.
- Troy also dropped two Sun Belt series to No. 23 Texas State and South Alabama.
- The Trojans had two student-athletes in Taylor McKinney and Audra Thompson named to the 2024 Sun Belt All-Conference second team.
- Jade Sinness leads the team with a .355 batting average. The senior has also made her mark in the Sun Belt, placing fifth in RBIs (44), eighth in runs scored (42), and 10th in on-base percentage (.450)
- Libby Baker leads the pitching with a 14-11 record and a 3.65 ERA while tossing 53 strikeouts on the season.

- CCU has a 9-13 record versus Troy.
- The Chants suffered a 2-1 series loss to the Trojans during the regular season.
- Coastal and Troy have met twice in postseason play with the Chants holding a 2-0 record.
- CCU has been outscored 55-46 in its last 10 matchups versus the Trojans and will be looking to snap its two-game losing streak.

FUTURE OPPONENT
- If the Chants defeat the Trojans, they will take on the winner of No. 1 Louisiana and No. 8 James Madison in the semifinals.

- In 2023, the Chanticleers reached the quarterfinals after Delaney Keith launched a walk-off home run in the 10th inning to beat Southern Miss.
