Softball has Five Student-Athletes Pick Up CSC Academic All-District Honors

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team had five student-athletes in Libby Pippin, Nicolette Picone, Maddy Jennings, Iyanla De Jesus, and Riley Zana named to the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Softball team.
The CSC recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Pippin posted a .255 batting average on the year and finished second on the team with 34 runs. The sophomore laced home runs in back-to-back games versus Oakland (March 3) and Yale (March 3) and recorded 11 RBIs on the season.
Picone was a regular in the circle for the Chants, posting a 3.04 ERA while ranking ninth in the Sun Belt with a .249 opposing batting average. The junior tallied six saves on the season, the second most in single-season program history, ranking only behind her own record of eight saves in 2023.
Jennings had the third-longest hitting streak on the team, going on a nine-game tear between March 12 to March 28. She tallied eight home runs, 24 RBIs, and 20 runs during the season and recorded a career-high two doubles versus Southern Miss on April 7.
De Jesus posted a .263 batting average and finished second on the team with 41 RBIs and nine home runs. The Mill Creek, Wash., native topped the team with 12 multi-RBI games and tallied 10 multi-hit games on the year, including a game-high three hits versus Furman (Feb. 25) and Troy (March 17).
Zana topped the team with 55 hits, 41 RBIs, and 14 multi-hit games along with recording a career-high five RBIs versus Southern Miss (April 7). The second baseman belted four grand slam home runs on the year, which is tied for fifth most grand slams in a season in NCAA DI softball history.
